Day 63 - Blue Heron

April 29, 2011

I caught this Blue Heron resting on a little "island" of logs and brush in the lake. Nearby were 5 or 6 turtles sunning on a log. Funny thing is when we went to Airlie Gardens in November of last year, I took a photo of a White Heron in the exact same spot, also with 5 or 6 turtles nearby on the log.

Day 62 - Macro Flower

April 28, 2011

I don't know what kind of flower this is but I included the full photo of the flower as well. I am sure someone out there knows the name of this pretty flower. I could not resist taking a macro shot of it. The colors are amazing. The focal point is very small so a lot of it is blurry. I didn't take the time to adjust my settings, just clicked it and moved on.

Day 61 - Holding the Butterfly

April 27, 2011

At Airlie Gardens there is a wonderful Butterfly House. It is early in the season so there were not a whole lot of butterflies but my daughter had no problem catching this one. In fact, the Monarchs really seemed to like her.

Day 60 - The Archway

April 26, 2011

This is the vine covered archway leading to the fountain. What you can't see at the end are rows and rows of white chairs that have been set up for an wedding.

Day 59 - Fountain

April 25, 2011

At Airlie Gardens there is a beautiful fountain right next to the lake. There were swans swimming in the lake and herons standing by. And to get to this fountain you can walk through a long vine covered archway. Perfect setting for a wedding.

Day 58 - Purple Flowers

April 24, 2011

At Airlie Gardens these flowers really caught my eye. So pretty!

Day 57 - Old Tree

April 23, 2011

My friend Heather and I went to Airlie Gardens in Wilmington with our kids and had a fantastic time taking photos! We were there for 3 hours and the time just flew by. And we took a LOT of photos! This photo is of the Airlie Oak tree that is over 400 years old. You can read more about the tree and the gardens here.
